Beaches by foot - general
The sea is about 800 m far away from the centre of Kaliviani and so easily to go there by foot in 10 minutes. Nothing here is commercial, everything is natural. In the beginning of summer once the beach might be cleaned, but many dirt, coming from the sea in wintertime, is still left. Nevertheless there are long parts of the coast you can go for a swim here and there.
 Much nicer and short 20 minutes walk in direction towards Balos there are some bays made out of stone or sand mix. This region called “Meri tou Pigathi” (translated like: “The places at the source”) It’s also a nice place for snorkelling.
There is no canteen or something like that, so you have to take with you sun protection and a blanket. In between rough and rocky cliffs located very idyllic with free grazing goats.
